Turning professional in 1995, Kjeldsen notched up his first win on the Challenge Tour in the 1997 Finnish Open, before joing the main European Tour in 1998. Four wins on the Tour between 2003 and 2015 all came in Europe, but arguably his most prestigious win came 'down under' at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne. In partnership with compatriot Thorbjørn Olesen, Kjeldsen rounded off the 2016 season with Denmark's first ever win in the World Cup of Golf.

Played as the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation (May 28-31). Kjeldsen (Den) beat Eddie Pepperell (Eng) and Bernd Wiesberger (Aut) with a birdie at the first playoff hole. [Royal County Down GC, Newcastle, Co. Down, N. Ireland].

Played as the Open de Andalucia de Golf '09 (March 26-29). Second-placed David Drysdale (Scot) finished 3 shots behind Søren Kjeldsen (Den). A third round 62 (-10) propelled Kjeldsen into a 6 shot lead going into the final round. [Real (Royal) Sevilla GC, Sevilla, Andalucia].

Played as the Volvo Masters (Oct 30-Nov 2; for the last time after 21 years as the Eurpn Tr's season-ending event). Second-placed Martin Kaymer (Ger) and Anthony Wall (Eng) finished 2 shots behind wire-to-wire winner Kjeldsen (Den). [Valderrama GC, San Roque, Spain].

Played as the Diageo Championship at Gleneagles (June 19-22). Second placed Alastair Forsyth (Scot) finished 2 shots behind Kjeldsen (Den), who recorded his first win on the European Tour. [PGA Centenary Course, Gleneagles, Perthshire].
