Tavatanakit was inspired to pick-up the game as an 8-year-old, not so much from her golf-playing father, but from the televised celebrations of another Tiger Woods win. After a successful amateur career in Thailand and then at the University of California, Los Angeles with the UCLA Bruins, Tavatanakit turned professional in 2020. She promptly won a women's major championship in her rookie LPGA Tour season in April 2021, unsurpisingly taking the Tour's Rookie of the Year honours for that year.
The most powerful weapon in Tavatanakit's golfing armoury is her drive, often averaging 325 yards from the tee.
