Did you know?

Nick Faldo is England's greatest golfer of the modern era. Ever the competitor, he grew up with a real passion for sports. After many successes in swimming, athletics, football and cycling, he took up golf aged 13, inspired by seeing the 1971 Masters Tournament on television.

His short experience at the University of Houston on a partial golf scholarship, was followed by a decision to return to the UK and turn professional in 1976 at the age of 18. There was no looking back. During the next 20 years Faldo became a prodigious winner on the world stage, becoming a six-time major championship winner.

Beyond the golf course, Faldo's activities have included golf course design, golf instruction and teaching academies, developing younger players, wine-growing, golf commentary and many other business pursuits.
