After graduating from UCLA, Martin turned professional in 2005, and mainly played on the US Futures Tour until 2011. She earned full playing privileges on the US LPGA Tour in 2012. Her first LPGA Tour win came in a major championship, the 2014 Women's British Open, which she dramatically won with an eagle at the last hole.

Second-placed Shanshan Feng (China) and Suzann Pettersen (Nor) finished 1 shot behind Martin (USA), who snatched victory with an eagle-three at the final hole.
