Fitzpatrick's highly successful amateur career included victory in the 2012 British Boys Amateur Championship, and culminated in winning the U.S. Amateur Championship at The Country Club (Brookline) in 2013. After a brief spell at Northwestern University in Illinois, the 19-year-old Yorkshireman turned professional in 2014 and qualified to play on the European Tour in 2015.
Fitzpatrick didn't have to wait too long for success as a professional, with European Tour wins coming in 2015 and 2016. His early successes also won him a place in Europe's 2016 Ryder Cup team, where he was on the losing end of the two matches he played in.
His first PGA Tour win was notched-up at the 2022 US Open, which also gave him a first major championship title. In so doing, Fitzpatrick became the first non-American golfer to win the US Open and US Amateur titles, and only the second player after Jack Nicklaus (USA) to win them on the same course ... Nicklaus at Pebble Beach, Fitzpatrick at Brookline.
