Gronberg's excellent amateur career culminated in his inclusion in the Swedish team that won the 1990 Eisenhower Trophy; Gronberg himself won the event's individual title. He turned professional in the same year. His subsequent four wins on the European Tour included the Italian and South African Opens. Gronberg has also played on the Nationwide and PGA Tours in the United States.
