Having moved his attentions from football to golf aged 13, Åberg enjoyed an outstanding success as an amateur golfer, before turning professional in June 2023, aged 23. During his amateur days he became the world's No.1 ranked men's amateur. As a student at Texas Tech, he won the Ben Hogan Award as the best collegiate player in the United States in both 2022 and 2023; Jon Rahm also won this award twice (2015, '16).
Success came quickly to Åberg as a professional with some impressive finishes in his first few events on the PGA Tour. Back in Europe, and in only his third start as a professional on the European (DP World) Tour, he claimed the coveted European Masters title at Crans-sur-Sierre in Sept 2023.

Played as the Omega European Masters (Aug 31-Sep 3). Second-placed Alexander Björk (Swe) finished 2 shots behind 23-year-old Ludvig Åberg (Swe), who recorded his first European Tour win in his sixth start on the Tour. Turning professional in June 2023, the former World No.1 men's amateur was making just his third European Tour start as a professional, and ninth professional start overall. Played as the RSM Classic (Nov 16-19; PGA Tour 2023 FedEx Fall season). Second-placed Mackenzie Hughes (Can) finished 4 shots behind 24-year-old Ludvig Åberg (Swe), who recorded his first PGA Tour win in his 16th start on the Tour. Åberg shot back-to-back 61s at the weekend to clinch victory. His 72-hole score of 253 tied with Justin Thomas (2017 Sony Open) for the PGA Tour scoring record. [Seaside course, Sea Island GC, GA; Plantation course also used during first two rounds].
124th US Open: the No.2 Course at Pinehurst once again plays host to this most illustrious championship (June 13-16). Wyndham Clark defends his title, having won at Los Angeles CC in 2023.
79th Women’s US Open: the second women’s major championship of the season gets underway at Lancaster CC in Pennsylvania. It’s the second time the championship has been held here.

Nelly Korda: won the Mizuho Americas Open (May 16-19) at Liberty National GC, continuing her extraordinary form in LPGA events. This was her sixth win in seven starts in 2024.
Xander Schauffele: recorded his first major championship win, and second record-equalling low score of 62 in a major. Only he, Branden Grace, Rickie Fowler and Shane Lowry have achieved this feat in a men’s major championship.
