Following graduation from the the University of Colorado, Irwin turned professional and began a highly successful career in golf. His 20 PGA Tour titles and record 45 Champions Tour wins, include three U.S. Opens and seven senior majors. His final U.S. Open win came in 1990, and made 45-year old Irwin the oldest player to win this prestigious major championship. In 1986 he founded Hale Irwin Golf Design. To date he and his son Steve have over 25 courses in their design portfolio.
