"Robbie" Robinson apprenticed under the legendary Stanley Thompson, and became a leading post-war Canadian golf course architect in his own right. After World War II, in which he served with the Canadian Royal Air Force, Robinson entered the world of golf course design in 1948, and founded C.E. Robinson & Associates in 1961. The firm went on to design or remodel more than 300 courses, among them several revered names in Canadian golf.
Robinson was able to pass on the design principles of Stanley Thompson to several lead designers who worked for him, most notably Doug Carrick and Tom McBroom.
