Roll of Honour

British Youths Amateur Open champion (1973). European Tour wins (2) and European Snr Tour wins (25). European Tour Rookie of the Year (1974). European Senior Tour Rookie of the Year (2003) and Order of Merit winner (2003, '04, '07).

Did you know?

After an excellent amateur career Mason turned professional in 1973, becoming the European Tour Rookie of the Year the following season. It took 20 years and 455 starts on the Tour to record his first win, which came at the 1994 Andalucian Open. His only other European Tour win came in the same season at the Scottish Open.

If Mason's record on the European Tour was 'modest,' his performance on the European Senior Tour was outstanding. Among the over-50s he became a prolific winner and topped the season-long Order of Merit three times (2003, '04, '07). He won at least one event in each season between 2003 and 2011, but more usually recorded two, three or four wins a year. In both 2004 and 2007 he triumphed on five separate occasions.
