Bandon Dunes (Sheep Ranch)
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort (Sheep Ranch course): As the newest layout in the Bandon Dunes championship quintet, the Coore-Crenshaw renovated Sheep Ranch course continues the illustrious Bandon Dunes theme of "oceanside" golf, "as it was meant to be". The layout sits on a mile of oceanside frontage with nine thrilling cliffside holes in the mix.
Sheep Ranch, more than any other of the Bandon courses, serves-up unobstructed Pacific Ocean, beach and coastal views from every hole. From first to last the views are spectacular.
Bucking the modern trend towards ever more bunkers and exposed sand areas, a hallmark of this major Coore-Crenshaw renovation, is the complete absence of bunkers ... as you know them. In their place you'll find grass bunkers and hollows, and subtly crafted mounding.
Stay&Play at Bandon Dunes: onsite accommodation is available in a variety of luxury lodges, inns and cottages (see Where2Stay section below).
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Excellent - as good as they get.
Sand bunkers, as you will discover, are not part of the Sheep Ranch's make-up. Bucking the bunker trend, this spectacular Coore-Crenshaw design reflects the UK's earliest seaside links courses. Artificially created bunkers were not routinely built into these early links layouts. "Bunkering" evolved naturally over time from hollows and animal "scrapes" where sheep and cattle sought shelter from the climate's rougher edge.
Sheep Ranch course:
Oregon's 5th best course (Golf Digest, 2023/24).
USA's 115th best course, and 16th best public access course (Golf Digest, 2023).
World's 54th best public access course (Golf World, 2023).
