Rockwind Links
Rockwind Community Links (formerly known as Ocotillo Park Golf Course) is a newly designed open parkland layout located just outside the city of Hobbs, close to the Texas-New Mexico border.
Golf course architect Andy Staples took the sixty-year-old Ocotillo Park course and transformed it into a modern gem. His routing of Rockwind Links is based on Muirfield in Scotland, where a clockwise front-nine loops creates the perimeter. This outward nine encircles an anti-clockwise back-nine loop that incorporates a good-size lake, around which the par-3 10th, doglegging par-4 11th and par-5 18th holes are played.
Old world touches can be found throughout the course, like Garden City Golf Club's “chocolate drops” behind the par-5 16th green, and multiple “coffin bunkers” as found at Muirfield. A bowl-shaped green at the par-5 5th funnels your approach shot, while the influences of Golden Age architects like Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor are ever-present.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Walking permitted. Golf carts available to rent.
