Tunica National
Tunica National Golf & Tennis: This excellent quality, open, links-style golf course has already hosted sectional qualifying for the US Open Championship, and is set to stage many more prestigious events in future years. Located in the Tunica Resorts area outside Memphis, this Mark McCumber design will test all facets of your game.
The originally flat terrain has been sculpted into a pleasantly rolling layout where good width fairways lead you onto large, subtly sloping greens. There's plenty of attractive sharp-edged fairway and greenside bunkering, as well as water in play on all the front-nine holes and most of the back-nine.
The last five holes of the opening nine take you counter-clockwise around Tunica National's huge 360-degree driving range. You'll find very little housing on or around the course (and not too many trees).
Beyond the course perimeter the countryside is predominantly flat, open cotton fields, for which this area is famous and out of which "blues" music was born. One notable construction at the centre of the two nine-hole loops is the large and modern clubhouse, made even larger by its annex - the club's top-quality indoor tennis facility.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
