Birck Boilermaker (Ackerman-Allen)
Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex (Ackerman-Allen course): now a firm fixture on Indiana's Pete Dye Golf Trail, the Ackerman-Allen is one of two championship layouts at Purdue University's golf facility ... the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Dating from 1934, and originally known as Purdue South, and from 1998 as Ackerman Hills, the Ackerman-Allen layout was substantially revamped by Pete Dye in 2015. Its stablemate, the Kampen-Cosler layout, was formerly known as Purdue North.
With significant contributions from the Ackerman family and Sam Allen of John Deere, the Ackerman Hills golf course reopened in 2016 as the Ackerman-Allen course ... a contrasting parkland foil to the more linksy Kampen-Cosler course. The Ackerman course, with its rolling terrain, features tree-lined fairways and large greens.

Excellent
The golf facilities of Purdue University, known as the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, take their name from Michael and Kay Birck, who gave considerable amounts of their time and money to Purdue University. The sports teams and alumni of Purdue are known as the Boilermakers.
Birck Boilermaker's Ackerman-Allen course was originally known as Purdue South, and then Ackerman Hills. The course was host to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in 1961; Purdue won the team championship and Jack Nicklaus won the individual medal. The course is named in recognition of Jim and Lois Ackerman's support of Purdue University athletics, and Sam Allen, a Purdue alumnus and former CEO and Chairman of the John Deere corporation.
Pete Dye Golf Trail: established in 2011 to showcase the great man's golf courses in Indiana, the Pete Dye Golf Trail comprises: Birck Boilermaker (Kampen-Cosler and Ackerman-Allen courses), Brickyard Crossing, French Lick (Pete Dye course), Maple Creek, The Fort and Tippecanoe CC. The trail previously included Mystic Hills (now closed) and Plum Creek GC.
