World Golf Village (Slammer & Squire course)

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1998

World Golf Village (Slammer & Squire course): The Slammer & Squire bears the name of two of golf's greatest legends, "Slammin" Sammy Snead and Gene "The Squire" Sarazen. Starting directly behind the World Golf Hall of Fame, the Slammer & Squire quickly gets into a beautifully natural "flatwoods" setting, albeit with a touch of traffic noise from nearby I-95.

The clockwise loop of front-nine holes require accurate driving from the tee, with good course management needed to avoid the many water hazards lining the fairways. The woods and water of the front-nine, give way to a much more open parkland style on the back, with plenty of views onto the World Golf Village, but lacking the natural beauty of the earlier holes. Throughout, the upkeep is excellent, on a "friendly" course for players of all levels.

The Slammer & Squire and King & Bear golf courses are just part of the many attractions at the World Golf Village (WGV). Here you would previously have found the World Golf Hall of Fame, before its 2024 move to Pinehurst in North Carolina.

The resort also includes a PGA Tour Golf Academy, a Rennaisance Resort hotel and an IMAX cinema. Nearby St Augustine is the USA's oldest city, with a wonderfully historic centre and adjacent Fort. The Slammer & Squire is managed by Honours Golf, the Southeast's leading golf course development and management company.
