TPC Sawgrass (Stadium)
TPC Sawgrass (Stadium course): As you might expect from the flagship Tournament Players Club and home of the PGA Tour, the two golf courses here at TPC Sawgrass are world-class. The Stadium course, which annually hosts The Players Championship, is a tough but thrilling test for golfers of all handicap levels.
Tall mature pines and moss-laden oaks line the rolling, not overly wide fairways. Expansively long and often deep bunkering, as well as many large silent ponds also threaten. Around the sizeable and at times wickedly sloping greens, you'll discover an array of himalayan mounding, extravagant bunkers (of every shape and size), slick run-off areas and deep ball-grabbing rough.
Pete Dye's wonderfully crafted course will keep you enthralled and challenged all the way, and then delivers a sting in the tail with three stunning closing holes. The short par-5 16th, with its green jutting out into a pond is a potential card-wrecker, especially for long-hitters who gamble against the hole's inherent risk and reward. The same pond wraps itself fully around the 17th green, creating the world's most famous island-green par-3.
The long gently curving par-4 18th demands a nerve-jangling drive to a thin sliver of fairway that sits alongside a much wider expanse of water. There's not much to look at from the tee except H2O, and that's still the case as you size-up your approach shot to the water-flanked green. TPC Sawgrass's huge Spanish-style clubhouse provides a stunning backdrop to this final hole.
With one of the highest green fees in the United States a round on the Stadium Course will require you to dig deep into your pockets. But in return it invariably delivers a wealth of wonderful golfing memories and stories to savour.

Excellent
The Tournament Players Club (TPC) was the culmination of PGA Commissioner Deane Beman's long-held vision to create a "home club" for members of the PGA Tour. The two courses at TPC Sawgrass were built for top-level tournament golf, including amphitheatre-like mounding which provides excellent viewing galleries for spectators, a concept common to other TPCs in the USA.
TPC Sawgrass has been a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System since its opening and continues to work diligently protecting its wildlife.
TPC Sawgrass is home to another TPC - The Players Championship, which is played annually on the Stadium course. It is one of the PGA Tour's biggest events. (See our Tournaments section >by Venue >TPC Sawgrass).
