Timacuan Golf Club: Located north of Orlando in Lake Mary, just a mile or so off Interstate-4, Timacuan is a popular and solidly designed layout. A seemingly equal distribution of small lakes and ponds, Floridian wetland, pine forest, sandy waste areas and good-quality housing flank the holes on this always testing and absorbing layout. Housing is generally set well back from the good-width, well-bunkered or water flanked fairways.
The more linksy front-nine weaves its way through open rolling terrain. In contrast, the equally challenging back-nine loop exudes a tree-lined feel more akin to the Carolina. Here scenic wetlands and moss-draped oaks are much in evidence. On this inward loop, water threatens alongside seven of the nine holes.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
