The Golf Club at North Hampton: refurbished in 2012, this relatively open Arnold Palmer design should not disappoint. Woven into its fabric are many attractive features and several excellent holes.
A good-width linksy par-4 opens proceedings, while the long snaking par-5 2nd (at 625 yards from the tips) quickly signals this layout will be no push-over. Water poses a threat on several holes, flanking some of the generally good-width landing areas, especially on the back-nine loop.
At the par-3 7th you'll need a tee-to-green carry over a corner of a small lake to find the safety of the green. That theme is replicated on the two back-nine par-3s.
Although part of a housing development, the homes do not intrude on the golf course, which mixes open linksy stretches with others that are more tree-lined. Here is a layout that maintains a pleasantly natural feel as the holes glide past small lakes and woodland. Certainly one to include on your play list if you are golfing north of Jacksonville in Florida.
