Hidden Creek, FL
The Club at Hidden Creek: Located halfway between Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach on Florida's Panhandle, The Club at Hidden Creek is another challenging and enjoyable member of the Emerald Coast Golf Trail. The course is situated just two miles from Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, and less than a mile from the expansive East Bay lagoon. However, the only water you'll see at Hidden Creek is that which lies inside the course itself.
The layout's two nine-hole loops meander through a residential development, with generally unobtrusive housing set well back from the course. The good-width fairways are pleasantly framed by a not overly dense tree-line, while expansive bunkering runs alongside several fairways. Sand traps large and small are also deployed around the nicely mounded, sloping greens.
Although you may not find the "hidden creek" on your way round, you'll need to take care on the closing stretch of the front-nine. Good-sized ponds flank the short and tight par-4 6th, the excellent par-3 7th, long par-5 8th and the par-4 9th.
Although not a dramatic layout in terms of look, length or undulation, Hidden Creek is full of well-crafted holes and occupies a pleasant and quiet environment. The more tree-lined back-nine arguably contains the most interesting stretches, with oak trees picturesquely defining many of the holes.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts compulsory.
