Ponte Vedra Inn (Lagoon)
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (Lagoon course): Ponte Vedra's second test of golf is the Lagoon course. At a modest 6,022 yards from the back tees, this par-70 layout was the product of two great golf course architects. First contributor was Robert Trent Jones Sr, who designed the front-nine holes in 1961. Second to weigh-in was Joe Lee, who laid out the back-nine in 1977.
In 2007, renowned architect Bobby Weed fully restored and enhanced the Jones/Lee layout, adding further character and challenge to the golf experience on the Lagoon course.
Weed's restoration included new tees, fairways and greens, routing changes on several holes, new turf standards, improved irrigation and drainage, and an enhanced landscaping theme. The restoration gave the Lagoon course a stronger identity, while complementing the sterner test of the Ocean Course.
The Lagoon places a premium on accurate driving and well-judged approaches. Water is a dominant feature with a mosaic of lakes and lagoons threatening golfers on eleven holes. Tall pines, palms and ancient sprawling oaks keep the fairways narrow on many holes, as you journey towards typically small and fast greens.

Ponte Vedra Inn's Ocean course was selected as the venue for the 1939 Ryder Cup. However the onset of World War II led to the cancellation of the Ryder Cup until 1947, when the matches were moved to Portland, Oregon. The Ocean course has been used as a US Open qualifying course on several occasions.
