Hammock Beach Resort (Conservatory course): As one of two excellent and contrasting golf courses at the Hammock Beach Resort, the Conservatory course represents one of Tom Watson's best designs, and one of Florida's highly-rated championship layouts. You'll need to stay at the Resort if you want to play this course, which is generally reserved for members and resort-guests, with very limited possibilities for outside visitor play.
A nod to Watson's affinity for British links-style golf, the Conservatory layout is highlighted by 140 sand and coquina bunkers and three sod-faced bunkers, as well as waterfalls, babbling brooks and veneered stone work. The open parkland layout, linksy at times, contains an array of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course to go out of your way to play.
Stay&Play at Hammock Beach: luxury accommodation available nearby (9 mi); see Where2Stay section below.
Resort guests (staying at Hammock Beach Resort) can book to play on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts compulsory for visitors. Golf carts are fitted with GPS.
Excellent
The Conservatory course has hosted both US PGA Tour and Champions Tour events (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Hammock Beach).
Located approx 9 miles by road from the Ocean Course clubhouse, the clubhouse at the Conservatory Course evokes the design of a British style conservatory. Its high glass dome and luxurious appointments were perhaps inspired by two buildings in London, the Palm House at Kew Gardens and the original Crystal Palace, built for the Great Exhibition in 1851.
Florida's 52nd best course (Golf Digest, 2023/24).
