Black Diamond (Quarry)
Black Diamond Ranch & Golf Club: Dramatic, exciting and exclusive, the fabulous Quarry Course at Black Diamond has regularly featured in the definitive list of America's Top 100 Greatest Courses. The Quarry represents 18 of the 45 holes available to members and invited guests of Black Diamond. The also Fazio designed 18-hole Ranch course and 9-hole Highlands course make up the full 45.
Barely noticeable as you play round this spectacular layout is the upscale housing that flanks some of the course. Many "signature" holes make stunning use of impressive limestone cliffs, conferring a ruggedness and variety of golfing challenge on this beautifully crafted and immaculately maintained Tom Fazio design. Significant elevation changes, classic bunkering, and fairways framed with live oaks, dogwoods, myrtles, and magnolias are all part of the Quarry's make-up.
On the front-nine two wonderful par-5s, the 5th and 9th vie for top honours. On the back-nine the spectacular 14th, 15th and 16th holes are tightly wrapped alongside limestone cliffs that skirt a good-sized lake, the centre of the former quarry workings.
The fabulous closing stretch culminates with the long par-3 17th that drops down into a smaller quarry and a green guarded left and rear by 30-feet cliffs. A breathtaking golf outing awaits at Black Diamond, should you be lucky enough to be invited!
Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests. Stay&Play opportunities also possible.
