Oyster Reef
Oyster Reef Golf Club: with great upkeep, a really strong Rees Jones design and a pleasing natural woodland feel, Oyster Reef is one of Hilton Head's lesser known pearls. Here, in a mix of attractive woodland laced with upmarket homes, you can quietly focus on an excellent test of your golfing skills. Any real estate around the course is discreetly tucked away behind the generous tree-line.
Apart from the two back-nine par-3s, water is not a major issue here. What will determine whether you score well, might come down to how well you negotiate the significant green-side bunkering, the slick runoff areas, and the large excellently maintained greens.
Pick of the holes: top honours are usually bestowed on the par-3 6th, which commands excellent views over Port Royal Sound.
