Crescent Pointe
Crescent Pointe Golf Club: this "off-island" golf course in the Hilton Head Island area, commands an impressive reputation with both local and visiting golfers. The Arnold Palmer designed signature course features natural marsh and woodland views on its two nine-hole loops.
Century-old oaks, pines and blossoming magnolias combine with white-sand "beach bunkers" that cascade down to the water's edge. A key feature of this South Carolina Lowcountry course are its elevated greens and tees. The par-5 17th and doglegging par-4 18th both play alongside Sawmill Creek, which is screened from the course by a ball-saving line of trees.
Pick of the holes: the par-3 9th requires a tee-to-green carry over Sawmill Creek, the awaiting green encicled on three sides by tall mature trees.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Good
The modern-day town of nearby Bluffton, which was originally part of a royal parcel of land awarded to Lord Colleton, has a rich, fascinating history. Located on a high bluff overlooking the May River, Bluffton was a pastoral country retreat for wealthy plantation owners in Savannah and Beaufort in the 19th century.
Over the years, the area became popular with hunters, who enjoyed the rustic splendour of the Lowcountry woods. Today, Bluffton has become an increasingly popular area to call home, extending the appeal of Hilton Head Island to the mainland, and extending the range of golf courses on offer.
