Bay Creek (Nicklaus)
Bay Creek Resort & Club was home to two top-quality 18-hole championship layouts, the Palmer and the Nicklaus courses. Having opened as a much talked about 18-hole course in 2006, the Nicklaus layout was cut to nine-holes in 2020 when new owners took over.
Like its Arnold Palmer-designed older sibling, the Nicklaus course was a layout that ranked with some of the best in Virginia. Now, as a loop of nine-holes, with three played directly alongside Chesapeake Bay, it still offers a wonderfully scenic and challenging test ... but only half the examination that the original course laid down.

The nearby town of Cape Charles, located close to the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, was founded in 1884 by railroad and ferry operators. For many years the town was home to the Little Creek-Cape Charles Ferry, which provided a passenger and car ferry service across the Bay to Norfolk and Hampton. The ferry service ceased to operate in 1963.
