Strawberry Farms
Strawberry Farms Golf Club: With strawberry growing still in evidence at the top end of the course, and the Sand Canyon Reservoir to be circumnavigated on the back-nine, Strawberry Farms combines plenty of variety with a challenging and enjoyable layout.
The absence of housing intruding onto the course, together with pleasant rolling hills always in view, gives this layout a wonderfully natural feel. This is further reinforced with the bush-filled Sand Canyon Wash running alongside many of the front-nine holes.
The relatively flat front-nine loop lays down the need for solid and accurate ball-striking to avoid clinging rough beyond the fairways, the wetlands beyond that, and a plentiful array of bunkering around the greens. The bunker-surrounded par-3 7th and par-4 8th, which tightly threads its way through the wetlands, are the pick of the front-nine holes.
A complete change of scene awaits as you climb to the 10th tee for the start of the equally challenging, and more undulating and exciting back-nine. With five holes laid out around the 35-acre reservoir, and the other four played into the picturesque wetlands of tree-lined Shady Canyon (wherein lies the private, Tom Fazio designed Shady Canyon Golf Club), water is a dangerous threat on many back-nine holes.
Although not overly long at 6,700 yards from the tips, Strawberry Farms will test your course management and full range of shot-making, not least at the excellent par-4 18th, complete with waterfall tumbling down in front of the green.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Strawberry Farms Golf Club was developed by Doug DeCinces, a former Major League Baseball third baseman. In 1982, DeCinces was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the California Angels to make room for Cal Ripken Jr.
During his 15 seasons in the Major Leagues from 1973 until 1987, DeCinces played for three different teams, including nine years with the Orioles and six years with the California Angels. He retired after playing in only four games for the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of the 1987 season. He was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame in 2006.
