Pelican Hill (South)
Pelican Hill Golf Club (South course): Recently upgraded by original designer Tom Fazio, both the Ocean North and Ocean South courses at Pelican Hill provide a fabulously scenic and challenging golf experience. Both layouts are right up there with the best of California's world-class coastal golf courses.
The shorter South course is often the first choice of visiting golfers, with three clifftop holes getting you right alongside the ocean. The par-4 11th and a pair of short par-3s at 12 and 13 provide the oceanside highlights during your round. As you play these two par-3s, beautiful Crystal Cove State Beach and Little Treasure Cove are receptive to stray shots hit too far left.
Variety is a key ingredient of this superb undulating Fazio layout. Pelican Hill's South, like the North, has many holes that sweep through rugged bushland terrain, framed by eucalyptus and sage trees, with many elevation changes, and fairways occasionally flanked by deep canyons and ravines. Golfing challenges and ocean views abound, while the greenside bunkering and large undulating greens will ensure your short game is fully tested.
Although one or two holes are partly lined by real estate, the accent here is most definitely on the splendid coexistence of a wonderful golf course with its natural environment - both in amongst the coastal scrubland, and briefly along the seashore itself.

The clubhouse and properties at The Resort at Pelican Hill follow the classical influences of Palladian architecture. Andrea Palladio (1508-80) was arguably the most acclaimed architect of the European Renaissance period. Celebrated for his churches, villas and palaces in northern Italy, he became one of the most influential Italian architects, drawing on the crisp lines, elegant proportions and decorative porticos found in the architecture of ancient Rome and Greece.
Pelican Hill, along with nearby Oak Creek (also Tom Fazio designed), is owned and managed by The Irvine Company.
South course:
California's 57th best course in California (Golf Digest, 2023/24).
