Desert Springs (Valley)
JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort (Valley course): The luxurious Desert Springs Resort plays host to two contrasting resort-style courses. Whereas the Palm course is laid out around the impressive JW Marriott resort hotel, the fairly compact Valley course occupies the more secluded southern section of the resort.
With elevation changes throughout, you will be treated to wonderful views onto the San Jacinto mountain range from many parts of the course. Two shortish par-4's get things underway on this pleasantly undulating layout, where palms and many other tree varieties provide good definition to the fairways.
Although a tad shorter than the Palm course at 6,600 yards from the tips, the Valley course will test and probe your game, especially on several shorter but tighter holes, and around the water-protected loop from the par-4 5th to the good-length par-3 8th. Water also appears at the island green short par-4 16th and again in front of the very picturesque 18th green. The par-4 5th, gently dog-legging around a good-sized lake, is one of many excellent holes, Big Bear Mountain rising up in the background.
With plenty of pot bunkers defending the front and sides of the greens and a horseshoe of palms standing sentinel behind them, the putting surfaces vary from relatively flat, to others that reflect the more undulating character of this layout. The Valley course remains one of Palm Desert's little gems, well worth a visit, especially if some of the area's newer and bigger-trophy courses are burning you up!

Not only does Desert Springs have its two 18-hole championship courses, but it is also home to an 18-hole championship putting course, known as The Greens. This par-54, 475-yard layout, comprises all aspects of a full length course, with sand bunkers, water hazards, strategically placed trees and rolling "fairways", all played with just one club - the putter. This "golf in miniature" layout, can be enjoyed by individuals, families or group events. >> Golf carts at desert Springs are equiped with the latest GPS systems.
