Desert Springs (Palm)
JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort (Palm course): The luxurious Desert Springs Resort is home to two very contrasting resort-style courses ... the Palm and Valley layouts.
Arguably the better of the two, the slightly longer Palm course, is played in two nine-hole loops on either side of the large and impressive JW Marriott Resort hotel. The Palm is a stylish resort course, very well presented, with plenty of water features, palm trees and flowers adorning the layout, and disguising Palm Desert's arid and rugged origins.
Between the golf course and the hotel, a ring of small lakes and ponds ensure that at least half the holes have water in play. The start of the front-nine and closing stretch of the back-nine are particularly prone to "splashes". When you are not looking at one aspect of the hotel or another, or playing alongside some of the resort condominiums, you'll probably be enjoying wonderful views onto the surrounding mountain ranges.
The need for accuracy versus length on this course becomes apparent after just a few holes. Your reward for tackling the Palm's elegant charms and straight-hitting challenges comes at the par-3 17th, one of the most dazzling holes in the entire Coachella Valley. This breathtakingly beautiful hole, requiring a carry from tee to island-green, presents a riotous fusion of flowers, palms and waterfalls. Don't be surprised if pink flamingos are also on hand to add further splashes of colour, contrasting with the azure blue waters surrounding the green.

Not only does Desert Springs have its two 18-hole championship courses, but it is also home to an 18-hole championship putting course, known as The Greens. This par-54, 475-yard layout, comprises all aspects of a full length course, with sand bunkers, water hazards, strategically placed trees and rolling "fairways", all played with just one club - the putter. This "golf in miniature" layout, can be enjoyed by individuals, families or group events. >> Golf carts at desert Springs are equiped with the latest GPS systems.
