Industry Hills (Eisenhower)
Industry Hills Golf Club (Eisenhower course): This tranquil hilltop oasis, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of sprawling urban Los Angeles, but not intruded on by any housing, is home to two excellent and renowned championship courses. The Eisenhower and Zaharias, better known as the Ike and Babe, transport you back to an era when parkland layouts required skilful shot-making and good course management.
Stretching to over 7,200 yards from the tips, the Ike course incorporates several dramatic elevation changes and many superbly laid out and testing golf holes. Excellent bunkering is deployed along the rolling, tree-lined fairways and around the often large and undulating greens.
From the layout's higher elevations you will enjoy panoramas over Los Angeles and onto the San Gabriel mountains, which begin their upward ascent just a few miles to the north. Alongside the par-3 9th, you can inspect the funicular railway that once transported golfers from the 9th green up a steep incline to the 10th tee, via the "St Andrews Station" (see Did You Know section below). The green at the par-3 9th, measures fully 50 yards from front to back.
Among many excellent and challenging holes, the long, bunkerless par-3 5th is compensated for at the wonderful short par-4 17th, with a posse of bunkers lining the hole. Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort is surrounded neither by industry nor palm trees (pine and eucalyptus are more common on the Ike), but as a 36-hole golf resort it has just about everything you could wish for. Definitely one of the "hidden" gems of southern California.

Excellent
The "Ike" course pays tribute to Dwight D. Eisenhower's passion for the game of golf. Eisenhower is arguably one of the four most influential figures in popularising the game of golf in America - along with Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods.
The halfway house at Industry Hills is known as St Andrews Station, and sits at the top of a funicular railway, which once transported golfers up the steep incline between the 9th and 10th holes. The "Station" is now an excellent halfway house cafe, which also offers spectacular views onto the San Gabriel Valley and Mountains.
