Did you know?

Callippe Preserve is home to the Callippe Silverspot butterfly, a medium sized butterfly with a wingspan of 4 to 5 cm. It is found in native grasslands where females lay their eggs on the flowering host plant, named Johny Jump-Up (viola pedunculata). The butterfly is federally endangered due primarily to loss of habitat ... if you do see one, it is a sight to behold.
