Boulder Creek Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 2003

Boulder Creek Golf Club: Located just eight miles from the Hoover Dam, on the other side of the Black Mountains from Las Vegas, Boulder Creek is home to three excellent nine-hole loops of desert-style championship golf.

The Desert Hawk, Coyote Run and Eldorado nines make their separate ways out-and-back from the modern, comfortable clubhouse. Each has its own character, although the wonderfully natural and open desert environment is common to all three.

Water hazards threaten more frequently on the Desert Hawk and Coyote Run nines. Unlike neighbouring Boulder City Municipal course, there is no real estate around the Boulder Creek layout, leaving you to enjoy its large expanses of tranquil pristine desert.

From all three nines you are treated to wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and the impressively wide desert plain of the Eldorado valley. Oasis-themed holes feature palm trees, large beach bunkers, lakes and waterfalls. Arroyos (river beds) are artfully woven into the fabric of the course, often cutting through gently undulating fairways and guarding the front of several of the large and subtly sloping greens.

Although a little further out than most of the Las Vegas courses, Boulder Creek is always a delight to play; at times challenging, at others easier-going, and always well-presented and immensely scenic.

Did you know?

Immediately to the east of Boulder Creek GC is the Boulder City Municipal GC. Acclaimed golf course architects Billy Casper and David Rainville established the course in 1973. The par-72 6,600 yard layout features tree-lined fairways, and large receptive greens with water features on seven holes.

The city of Boulder City was originally built in 1932 by US Government (Bureau of Reclamation) as housing for workers who were building the Hoover Dam. Alcohol sales, membership in unions and all forms of gambling were prohibited in the city.

Boulder City was relinquished by the Bureau and officially incorporated in 1960. The city charter, approved by the residents, prohibited gambling within the city limits. This provision still exists today, making Boulder City one of only two locations in Nevada where gambling is illegal. Alcohol sales were permitted from 1969.
