Bear's Best Las Vegas
Bear's Best Las Vegas Golf Club: Not so much Jack Nicklaus's "greatest hits", but this wonderful golf course features a re-creation of 18 of his "greatest holes", drawn from golf courses located west of the Mississippi. Here in the western outskirts of Las Vegas, the setting is undulating desert terrain, not unlike the environment in which many of the "originals" are situated.
Although based on several different courses, the individually sculpted holes band together well, providing for a challenging and memorable round of golf. Desert terrain, fabulous mountain views, good-width fairways and large undulating well-bunkered greens are all much in evidence. So too are some distinctive departures from what's typically found in the Nevada desert.
Reflecting the Colorado hills of Castle Pines Golf Club, a raft of pine trees line the par-5 8th at Bear's Best. At the fabulous downhill par-3 4th and again at the short par-4 11th, plenty of black bunker sand surrounds the green, as it does at the Old Works golf course in Montana. Palm Springs/La Quinta courses are represented by holes drawn from PGA West, while Arizonan golf puts in several appearances, courtesy of replica holes from Desert Mountain and Desert Highlands. Mexico and the state of New Mexico are also show-cased.
Some high-end real estate appears around parts of the course perimeter, further adding to the Bear's Best spectacle. But it's the wonderful mountain and Las Vegas views you'll remember most as you journey round this classic collection of some of the Golden Bear's best designs. The panorama that awaits at the final green is simply stunning.

Excellent
The United States is home to two Bear's Best golf courses. Here in Las Vegas, the Golden Bear has re-created 18-holes based on a selection of great holes he has designed for golf courses that lie west of the Mississippi, and in Mexico.
Courses like PGA West (Nicklaus Private), Desert Mountain (Geronimo and Chiricahua courses), Castle Pines, Old Works, and Cabo Real (Eldorado) all feature in this excellent Las Vegas layout. In Atlanta, a second Bear's Best course reflects many great Nicklaus-designed holes that lie east of the Mississippi.
Bear's Best Las Vegas comes under the "Invited" Clubs (formerly ClubCorp) umbrella ... the largest owner and operator of private (and some public) golf clubs in the USA.
