TPC Scottsdale (Champions)
TPC Scottsdale (Champions course): A member of the Tournament Players Club network, TPC Scottsdale is home to two championship golf courses. Although lacking the grandeur and reputation of its big brother (the Stadium course), the Champions course still throws down a formidable challenge to test your golfing skills.
Designed by Randy Heckenkemper to fit seamlessly into the natural desert terrain, the Champions layout represents a complete reworking of the club's former Desert course, which previously occupied this site. Bounded by a raised canal bank on one side, a long line of holiday apartments on the opposite perimeter, and the 101-Loop on the east side, Heckenkemper's layout makes excellent use of a reasonably compact area.
There is a pleasing variety of scenery to enjoy as the course unwinds, with the McDowell Mountains providing a scenic backdrop to many holes. A creek runs through parts of the course, while a scattering of birch and pine trees, especially at the close, complements the gently rolling and essentially open character of this desert layout. The Champions Course includes a new and modern clubhouse.
