The Phoenician Resort

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 1988

The Phoenician Resort, located in the lee of rugged Camelback Mountain, is home to a well-regarded championship golf course. In 2017, having sold a parcel of land for housing development, the course embarked on a major transition, reducing its former 27-hole layout to 18-holes.

Contoured out of the surrounding Sonoran Desert, The Phoenician's desert and resort-style layout includes wonderful desert and mountain views, as well as Arizona’s only sand-island green. Based on the former 27-hole layout, the Desert-nine was best known for its dramatic elevation changes and wonderful scenery; the most requested course due to its unique layout. The Oasis-nine incorporates tree-lined fairways and tranquil but threatening water features. Located on the southern slope of Camelback Mountain, the Canyon-nine offers sweeping views of the Valley of the Sun (the Phoenix metropolitan area).
