Cambrian Ridge
RTJ Golf Trail - Cambrian Ridge Golf Course: If you had to choose one Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail course to represent and define all the others, then Cambrian Ridge might well be your choice. Within this 27-hole layout the outstanding Sherling and Canyon nines contain many of the characteristics frequently found on the Trail.
The layout occupies a splendidly natural woodland and lakeside domain. Here you'll find plenty of undulating ridges and valleys, all used to superb effect to provide a raft of memorable, challenging and scenic golf holes. Many of them climb the slopes that lead away from the lake, only to come back down again to wonderful lake-hugging, roller-coaster greens. An array of substantive bunkering (complete with distinctive red-coloured sand) also defend the greens.
Among many wonderfully elevated tee-boxes, the crow's-nest back-tee on the Sherling's par-4 5th is fabulous. The final holes on the Sherling and Canyon, are both uphill and played in more open terrain, either side of a deep ravine strewn with ochre boulders; a large double green awaits at the top of the climb.
The Loblolly nine mirrors the top-quality presentation of the other two, although with a touch less drama and panache, and without opening up such excellent lakeside holes and views. With no houses or roads in view, your full concentration can be given to this immensely enjoyable, testing and natural layout.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Good
Many regard the holes of the Sherling nine, played alongside Sherling Lake, as some of the best golf holes on the entire Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Canyon nine is carved from former hunting grounds, where deer blinds remain nailed to the hardwood. The Loblolly nine takes its name from tree of that name, a pine with long slender needles, native to the south-eastern U.S.
Cambrian Ridge is a reference to the Cambrian Period (part of the Paleozoic era of geologic time), which started 540 million years ago, and lasted 53 million years. During this period life on earth progressed from small one-cell organisms to more complex multicellular organisms, a period that saw the emergence of an incredible diversity of life forms.
