Eagle Point Golf Club: GOLF CLUB PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN 2016, and is now a residential development.
[Original Where2Golf description]: Eagle Point Golf Club: Eagle Point, located just south-east of Alabama's largest city, reinforces the Birmingham area's excellent golfing credentials. It is another in a strong line of enjoyable, pleasantly undulating and well-designed golf courses.
Exuding plenty of natural charm and character, and not without its challenges for players of all levels, the layout nestles down amongst wooded hills, with a small scattering of housing very occasionally in view, most noticeably to the left of the gently uphill par-4 1st.
Most of the holes are lined by tall pines, with some oak and dogwoods also in the attractive mix of foliage that creates good definition for the fairways. However, the tree-line is never too dense, so ball-finding for those occasional wayward shots should never be too difficult.
Water hazards need to be factored into your course management on five or six holes, most especially at the signature par-3 15th, which requires a downhill carry over water to land the ball safely on the green.
Elevation changes at Eagle Point are never too severe, although a small hill on the layout's southern-most section, creates the highest point on the course, and accommodates two distinctly elevated tee boxes (for the par-5 8th and par-4 13th holes), and a couple of wonderfully elevated greens (for the par-4 12th and 14th holes).
Course permanently closed in 2016.
Walking permitted at all times. Golf carts available to rent. No pull carts (trolleys) allowed.
