Thana City Golf & Country Club: Although the clubhouse may create something of a tired and lacklustre first impression, the golf course at Thana City is still holding up to a good standard, albeit of a relatively easy-going nature.
You will find plenty of courses around Bangkok where there is more water in play, more serious earthmounding lining the fairways and around the greens, and more expansive bunkering. But don't be fooled into thinking that this Greg Norman layout can't put up a good challenge.
The front and back-nines both serve up long and testing par-3's, as well as quite penal semi-rough, should you stray too far from the usually good-width fairways. Although these fairways may look invitingly wide from several tees, they have a habit of narrowing down to require more challenging approach shots into the greens.
Many bunkers, especially greenside are quite high-lipped, and there's often plenty of them. The fairways are lightly lined with a pleasant variety of trees, although never too densely.
Thana City's substantial condominium blocks stand tall behind the tree-line on a few front-nine holes, but the overall feel here is generally quite open. For a round of golf in pleasant parkland surroundings close to Bangkok itself, Thana City is still worth a visit.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts available for hire. Caddies used by all players.
