Lakewood Country Club: With three equally good nine-hole loops to choose between, it is easy to see why Lakewood is a popular venue with local and visiting golfers alike - not least it appears with Japanese golfers. This is a relatively flat and natural golfing environment, where a few villas and occasional mansions are mixed into the usually tree-lined perimeter.
Inside this well-maintained and good-looking course, the fairways are separated by an attractive lining of palms and other tree varieties, as well as plenty of relatively shallow bunkering. Slightly deeper bunkering is found around the excellent greens, often protecting the greens both to left and right.
As you might imagine, water features strongly on the Lake course (generally regarded as the most attractive of the three nines), but it also comes into play on a majority of holes on the Wood and Rock nines. A fairly wide stream or creek meanders its way through the course, occasionally providing a challenging water carry, as at the risk-reward par-4 7th (Wood). The signature par-3 3rd (Lake), contains one of several water carries you'll need to make.
A few boulders are strewn around on the Rock course (the most recent nine to be built), especially at the par-3 5th. There don't seem to be substantially more trees on the Wood course than on the other nines, but one or two holes may feel a fraction tighter and the trees a little bit closer than is generally the case at Lakewood.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility. Caddies used by all players.
