Ljunghusens Golfklubb: Like its near neighbour Falsterbo, Ljunghusens is not a golf course to be missed when in southern Sweden. There are 27 holes on offer here: holes 1-9 (Yellow) and holes 10-18 (Red) is the usual combination, although holes 19-27 (White) is the oldest nine.
Stepping into the treeless and expansive openness of Ljunghusen, with its abundance of fairway-lining heather and fescues, is to enter a golfing realm abounding with interest and challenge.
The layout easily overcomes its innate flatness to entertain you from start to finish, although if your shot-making is wayward, or the wind is blowing strongly, "ball-finding" will become your least favourite challenge. Occasional water ditches, small ponds and a scattering of "pot" bunkers will also need to factored into your course management.
The level of upkeep at Ljunghusen is generally first-class, while the beauty of the wonderfully open environment is often breathtaking. Whether Ljunghusen has the edge over Falsterbo, or vice versa, is a matter of personal choice. For visitors to the area, our strong advice is to play them both ... and only then decide.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance by e-mail. Maximum handicap: men 30; women 36.
Soft spikes only. Players generally walk this course.

Ljunghusen Golfklubb was founded in 1932 and its first members, only ten in number, originally played on a 6-hole course. By the end of the first season the membership had risen to 43.
Mainly based in Malmö, the players would take a train to Ljunghusen and then a horse & cart the rest of the way to the course. During the years from 1932 until 1965 the course was gradually expanded from the original six holes to today's 27.
