Meloneras
Meloneras Golf: Two very contrasting loops of nine-holes characterise the championship course of Meloneras Golf. The easier-going, resort-style front-nine provides picturesque mountain views from its relatively open and undulating terrain.
There is always some elevation change to be reckoned with, especially on your approach shots to several elevated greens, while nicely sculpted earthmounding and a maturing line of palm trees clearly defines each hole and separates the good-width fairways.
Two of the three front-nine par-3's are very short, measuring less than 90 metres from the visitors' tees. However the par-3 3rd is a much tougher proposition, requiring a 150-metre carry over a small reservoir to a not overly large green.
The back-nine is what gives Meloneras its edge. The tricky dog-legging par-4 11th takes you seawards, before handing you onto the fabulous par-3 12th hole, which hangs out over the cliffs above a rocky foreshore. A challenging and picture perfect par-3.
The next four holes deliver exciting and wonderfully scenic clifftop golf, with the lighthouse and hotel towers of Meloneras looking resplendent to your east. To the west you'll see and then pass behind the village of Pasito Blanco with its marina full of luxury boats. These seaside holes can be exacting, especially from the back-tees with the wind blowing, but are more usually associated with great clifftop golf and fabulous ocean views.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
