How to get there:

7 km E of Marbella

Coming from Marbella (heading east), leave the AP-7 (E15) at exit 186 (A7 Fuengirola) and follow the A7 (N340) for approx 5 km, direction Fuengirola. From the A7-N340 take exit El Rosario, cross bridge and rejoin the A7-N340 heading back towards Marbella. After just 100 metres turn right off the A7-N340 (look for small Marbella Golf sign and prepare for a sharp turn). Follow signs to Marbella Golf for approx o.8 km. [NOTE : Do not confuse Marbella G&CC with Marbella Club Golf Resort - they are different clubs in totally different places].

Marbella Golf Country Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1994

Marbella Golf Country Club: It required all Trent Jones' inventiveness and archtectural wizardry to create a playable and ultimately enjoyable golf course from this seriously hilly terrain. Few if any holes (numbered with roman numerals) are played "on the flat"; most either plunge spectacularly downhill, or have you playing uphill to elevated greens.

The immaculate fairways can rarely be described as generously wide, and with deep ravines and bushy rough awaiting wayward tee-shots on several holes, sparing use of the driver (or a good supply of balls) may serve you well. Water hazards and plenty of bunkering is also incorporated to further add to the challenge.

You may start thinking that Herculean efforts are needed to negotiate the course (perhaps this is the case on your first outing) but you'll also be rewarded with spectacular views onto the Mediterranean, rugged and hilly countryside and the high Sierras behind the Costa del Sol.

The technical challenges here may not be to everyone's taste (especially at holes like the overly complicated par-5 6th). But as you drink in the splendid vistas from the clubhouse terrace (a certain 30-year old unfinished apartment block excepted), you can reflect on how you "conquered" one of the Costa's toughest courses.
