Golf Club Salinas de Antigua: Two of the 18-hole golf courses on Fuerteventura lie right next to each other on the island's east coast. They are located just a few kilometres south of the island's airport. With Fuerteventura Golf Club a short-iron away to the north, and the expansive Atlantic Ocean to its east, Salinas de Antigua Golf Club is an exciting and challenging Manuel Pinero design.
Although a little short of championship length, at 5,409 metres (5,900 yds) from the back tees, the plentiful array of hazards will ensure you are kept on your golfing toes. Plenty of regular sanded bunkers will need to be avoided, as well as expansive, rock-strewn, black-sand waste areas, which run alongside most of the holes.
Four small lakes also pose an ominous threat and will require accurate shot-making as you approach five of the greens. Although there is some housing flanking parts of the course perimeter, the ocean views are more likely to have you reaching for your camera.
Visitors welcome weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap: men 28; women 36. Proof of handicap may be required.
Soft spikes only. Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.

Fuerteventura is the second largest and oldest island in the Canary Islands dating back 20 million years to a volcanic eruption from the Canary hotspot. The majority of the island was created about 5 million years ago and since then eroded by wind and weather.
The last volcanic activity in Fuerteventura was between 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. The island is the least settled in the Canary Islands.
