Oubaai
Oubaai Golf Club: Smooth, undulating slopes, generous fairways and a large expansive layout may create the impression that Oubaai will be a "big easy" course to play. If however the wind is blowing straight off the Indian Ocean, then scoring on this well presented, Ernie Els designed course will be anything but straightforward.
With its distinctly open, links-style qualities, and wonderful vistas onto the sea and across to the Outeniqua mountains, Oubaai is both wonderfully scenic and an excellent golfing test. There is certainly the chance to take advantage of the generally good-width fairways. But you'll need to stay out of the plentiful bunkering that attractively defines many holes and lies in wait around the greens.
On the front-nine the good-length par-4 5th, stunning par-3 6th and par-5 7th are played alongside the beautiful Gwaing River Valley, its steep tree-lined slopes disappearing down to the river below. On the back-nine the short par-3 17th steals the most scenic hole award.
Tastefully designed housing is mainly restricted to the course perimeter, although some plots inside the course are under construction, but not to the detriment of the golf. Although not quite as dramatic a clifftop layout as its coastal neighbour, Pinnacle Point (near Mossel Bay), Oubaai is an excellent addition to the new generation of golf and real estate developments on the Garden Route.

Good
Somewhat unusually Oubaai has two clubhouses, located about 1 mile apart. To the east, and adjacent to the 1st and 18th holes is the Members Clubhouse. To the west and adjacent to the 9th and 10th holes is the Visitors Clubhouse - meaning that visitors usually play the back-nine first, followed by the front-nine.
The golf and hotel facilities at Oubaai were previously operated by the Hyatt Regency group.
