From Crieff town centre head east back towards Perth on the A85. After o.6 miles Crieff Golf Club is on your left.
Crieff Golf Club (Ferntower course): Located just a few miles north of Gleneagles, Crieff's Ferntower course also benefits from stunning views across the wonderful Perthshire hills from all parts of the course.
Laid out on the gentle south-facing slope of the Strathearn Valley, the course is relatively open, especially so on the front nine, where trees, large and small, are lightly spread around and the "rough" is cut to a very amenable ball-finding length. The course is always maintained in excellent condition, not least the firm and fast greens, full of tricky slopes and some ball-carrying run-offs.
Things tighten-up a fraction on the slightly more interesting back-nine, which occupies the higher part of the layout and brings you closest to the ruin of Ferntower House. In the pine forest above the course you may catch a glimpse of eagles (if not up there perhaps on your scorecard ?).
Occupying its lovely park like environment, Crieff is a thoroughly enjoyable layout, offering a good test of golf and some stunning views into the bargain.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Handicap required.
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire if pre-booked.

The "Ferntower", from which the course takes its name, was formerly a feature of Ferntower House, the ruins of which are clearly seen from the 12th, 13th and 14th holes. The tower you see looking down the par-5 5th hole is part of the large Crieff Hydro Hotel.
