Herdade do Pinheirinho is located half a kilometre from the Atlantic shoreline on Portugal’s Costa Azul (Blue Coast). The Santana da Silva designed course was actually completed in 2012. But with some stops and starts along the way it is set to open in 2024.
On the pine-forested sandy duneland between Comporta and Melides, to the south of Troia Golf Club, three new courses have arrived in close succession. Joining Pinheirinho is the David McLay Kidd-designed Dunas (Dunes) course at Terras da Comporta, and the private CostaTerra, from Fazio Design.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
With its exclusive 200 hectares located in the quiet coastal pine forests between Comporta and Melides, Herdade do Pinheirinho is set to become a resort-style haven, with a championship golf course at its core. Nearby is an unbroken 50-kilometre stretch of largely undeveloped Atlantic shoreline, stretching from Troia in the north to Simes in the south.
A 90-minute drive south of Lisbon, and less than an hour from Setubal, this very natural area now seems set for a period of unprecedented evolution. The three new golf layouts at Terras da Comporta, Herdade do Pinheirinho and CostaTerra would appear to be the forerunners of this development.
