Leave A2 at Jtn 1, follow direction Caparica on the IC 20. After 6.4 km turn left at traffic lights just before entering built-up area of Costa da Caparica (pink block of flats on your left), direction Fonta da Telha. After 6.1 km bear right direction "Golf". After 3 km turn left direction "Golf". After o.6 km turn right to Golf, which is straight ahead.
Aroeira (Challenge course; formerly known as Aroeira II): the dark-trunked pines that remain on Aroeira's second layout, barely hide the fact that this is a high-density residential retreat for Lisbon executives. By contrast, its sibling, the higher rated Aroeira Pines Classic course (formerly known as Aroeira I) retains some of its original natural forest-feel.
The most interesting stretch of the Challenge course, from the par-5 11th to the par-4 16th, makes excellent use of one of the estate's small lakes. This brings water into play on at least seven of the 18 holes. In addition to water, some fairly uncompromising rough may also account for one or two wayward tee-shots. Intriguingly, an unbroken line of three-storey terracotta-coloured apartments stretches for nearly 1.5 kilometres alongside the leftside of 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes.
Overall this is a challenging course built to PGA European Tour standards, but it is not just the course itself that will catch your eye - the many and varied architectural styles of the villas that line the fairways will also keep you visually entertained.
