Lofoten Golf Links are located on the island of Gimsøy, in the Lofoten Islands archipelago in northern Norway. The nearest towns are Svolvær (38 km SE) and Leknes (50 km SW). On Gimsøy follow Hwy E10 and turn off at the Sundklakk Bridge direction Hov (12 km) and Golfbane (10 km).
Lofoten Golf Links ... a rising star amongst Europe's top golf courses, especially after its extension to a full 18 holes in 2015. This spectacularly scenic and natural links course is located inside the Arctic Circle on the island of Gimsøya in Lofoten ... a former Viking stronghold.
The seaside layout offers many beachside holes and unobstructed sea views to the north. The Norwegian Sea constitutes a "penalty area" on several holes, while sandy beaches act as natural bunkers where the course hugs the shoreline.
The inland facing holes are dramatically framed by a backdrop of rugged mountain ridges. When you are not marvelling at all this natural scenery, the layout will certainly be testing most facets of your game.
In addition to the hugely enjoyable links layout, Lofoten also offers a chance to play round the clock golf in high summer, when the sun never sets! Or there's the chance to glimpse the Northern Lights in the autumn. Playing and walking this sublimely natural course is indeed a grand experience, one that the local Viking chieftains of old would no doubt have heartily approved.

Lofoten Golf Links has evolved from an original six hole layout, to nine, and from 2015 an 18-hole course. The course design has been a collaborative effort between course owner Frode Hov (whose family has lived on the island of Gimsøy since the sixteenth century) and Swedish-based English architect Jeremy Turner.

Continental Europe's 5th best course (Golf World, 2023).
World's 88th best course (GOLF Magazine, 2023/24) and 79th best public access course (Golf World, 2023).
