Galgorm Castle
Galgorm Castle Golf Club, located just outside Ballymena in County Antrim, is home to a tough, absorbing and modern parkland layout, designed by Simon Gidman. At times quite open, at others much more tree-lined, the layout nestles in the heart of the 220-acre historic Galgorm Castle estate.
Bounded by the rivers Maine to the west and Braid to the east, the threat of watery landings on the riverside holes is further reinforced with five menacingly located ponds inside the course. An almost complete oxbow lake in the Braid River, provides the setting for the short par-4 4th green and tee-boxes of the long par-3 5th and par-4 15th holes.
In this peaceful and attractive parkland environment, where bunkering plays its part ... though not too onerously ... your A-game will be required to hit some of the not overly wide fairways, and get down in two (or less) on the well-paced undulating greens.
