Tamarina Golf, Spa & Beach Club: One of three excellent championship courses in the south of Mauritius, Tamarina exudes a wonderfully "out of Africa" feel, likened by many to the fabulous Gary Player course in Sun City.
The surrounding ring of mountains, which includes the distinctive shark's tooth peak of Le Rempart and the three jagged peaks of Trois Mamelles, provides a fabulous backdrop to many holes. Although part of a residential development, the properties are discreetly set back, allowing the beauty and wild ruggedness of the natural environment to dominate.
The excellently crafted layout, where no two holes look or feel the same, provides a mix of testing and easier-going drives. After generous width fairways at the opening quartet, the par-5 5th (Yemen) provides a daunting tee-shot over the River Rempart to a distant marker post; then decide if its the high or low road you take to the green. At the risk-reward par-5 11th (Snake Eyes) you are invited to take the short-route (over two snake-eye bunkers), giving a shorter, easier approach into the green.
The 13th (Le Barachois) is a wonderfully plunging downhill par-3, flanked on its leftside by the River Rempart. Like many of the green surrounds at Tamarina an impressive array of large bunkers, slick run-offs and clinging bermuda grass will provide a thorough test for your full short game repertoire.
In this often open, rolling environment, an impressive variety of flora complements the spectacular mountain scenery, with plenty of tamarin trees in the mix, together with colourful bushes and a variety of grasses, both short and long.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Casela provides a unique opportunity to meet, touch and walk with the big cats, as well as explore this nature park and its wide array of outdoor leisure activities.
